Why it matters

Why the undercarriage matters.

The underside of a vehicle can accumulate dirt, mud, road grime, surface corrosion, old coatings and other contaminants over time. A clean, well-prepared undercarriage allows the condition underneath to be evaluated properly before any refinishing work begins.

Proper evaluation and preparation are important before refinishing. The vehicle's history, the extent of any corrosion and the condition of existing coatings all affect what approach is appropriate — which is why each undercarriage is assessed individually before the project scope is confirmed.

Frequently asked

Undercarriage questions.

Why should I clean my undercarriage?

The underside of a vehicle can accumulate dirt, mud, road grime and contaminants over time. Cleaning and maintaining the undercarriage is part of caring for the whole vehicle, and it allows the condition underneath to be properly evaluated.

Can you remove rust?

Surface corrosion can be assessed and addressed where appropriate. Complete rust removal and permanent corrosion prevention are not promised — the extent of corrosion is evaluated before any approach is confirmed.

Can you paint the entire undercarriage?

Refinishing scope depends on the vehicle's condition, the surfaces involved and the results of the evaluation. After inspection, we can discuss what painting and refinishing work is appropriate.

How do you prepare the surface?

Preparation typically involves cleaning, degreasing where appropriate, and surface preparation suited to the component and its condition. The exact preparation for a project is determined during evaluation.

Can you work on trucks?

Yes. Trucks, cars and other vehicle types are evaluated individually, since undercarriage condition and construction can vary from one vehicle to the next.

Can you work on classic vehicles?

Yes. Classic and older vehicles are welcome to be evaluated. Age, previous coatings and corrosion history all affect the appropriate approach, which is confirmed after inspection.

Can I send photos before bringing the vehicle in?

Yes. Clear photos of the undercarriage from several angles are a helpful first step and help determine what an in-person evaluation should cover.
